There was a long hiatus (25+ years) after my conservatory days and then I went back to singing in choirs. This inevitably lead to some solo work, and the clear recognition that I needed to get back to ongoing voice lessons and learning, even at the age of 50.Some years later now, I can readily say that a couple of fine voice teachers have had me use this varietal volume of classic pieces, both the Low Voice version as a Bass, and in this Medium High version as a Baritone.I move back and forth between the two over the years depending on where my vocal range is.Recommended.
My teacher is convinced that I am soprano. I am not convinced. The music in the book is too high for my novice skills. Trading this one in for a lower voice. In the lower voice of the same book, I am loving it. The registers of the songs is helping me sound better, learning some basic Italian singing along the way. Would be nice if there is a recording for all the pronunciations but that is where Teacher and Youtube comes in. Good book for the beginner and good technique honer for those who knows what they are doing. Good book. Book is good.
Truly a staple for every vocal music major to ever exist. If you do not become best friends with every song in this book, you're doing it wrong. Cue Sebben Crudele, Caro Mio Ben or Per la gloria being stuck in your head for 80 years
This is a great book for younger and older singers. The pieces are easily read (as I get older this becomes more important to me!) and although the recorded accompaniments aren't always helpful to the vocal line it certainly helps to have them for performances. It's much less expensive than paying an accompanist. I use this book for ages 9 and older. The one thing that would make it better would be if the songs were recorded once with the vocal line and again with just the accompaniment. It’s a classic for beginners. All the favorites. Be aware, because the description is slightly misleading, that it does not come with a CD. The accompaniments are online.
Wonderful music. I love this book! Especially good if you have a teacher who knows Italian. Otherwise, not so much... Because itsa in Italian!
This is what it says on the box. If you are here, you know what you want. This one is for higher voices (treble clef). Clean pages and came perfectly intact. If you need some classic songs, go for it!
Thought this came with an accompaniment CD. Instead had a link to the Hal Leonard website to download music. The link is dead. Very difficult to practice for first 10 voice lessons ever - with no accompaniment. Has anyone found a live link to the accompaniment?
